The Issues

The City of Grosse Pointe should focus on a city's main functions – infrastructure, public safety, and essential services. Our budgets must be balanced and focused on providing improved street, water, sewer, and public safety services. More importantly, the voice of residents must be heard and understood before decisions are made that affects them!

Let's work on this together!

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
As residents, we should keep as much of our hard-earned money as possible. So, I
will diligently fight for taxpayers to keep taxes low, streamline government, and reduce spending or negotiate better pricing/costs wherever practical.

IMPROVED INFRASTRUCTURE
I will seek creative, cooperative solutions to ensure our infrastructure is not allowed to crumble. Using my negotiation and cooperation skills, I will work to be certain we invest in not just fixing the now, but setting foundations that last for the future.

GROSSE POINTE IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS
I will encourage a healthy business climate for economic development and for the creation of good jobs! It's also important to  streamline any burdensome, antiquated processes that stifles smart growth.

STRONG NEIGHBORHOODS - STRONG CITY
A strong central downtown district and even stronger neighborhoods are vital to our continued growth and quality of life.
I will encourage growth and development to our downtown and to neighborhood beautification projects.

THRIVING, WELL-FUNDED SCHOOLS

My wife and I moved to Grosse Pointe because we believed that the GP public school system would best prepare our children for the future.  We were right. I support both the operating millage restoration and the sinking fund renewal.  In order for the Pointes to reach their full potential, we must provide our public school system every advantage possible. Our schools are one of our best asset to attracting new residents to Grosse Pointe.

OPEN DOOR POLICY
Government serves the people; People do not serve government. I will work hold  town hall meetings focusing on items of concern to YOU, and I will have an open door policy for all residents of Grosse Pointe  to voice opinions and be heard.

“It is time to return to core values, time to get back to basics. Our community needs to resume a collaborative dialog between its government and its residents. I want o help facilitate that and make it the norm not the exception."

Terence Thomas, Esq.,

Candidate for Grosse Pointe City Council
